About

Brittany is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a passion for healing trauma and supporting people with tools to reconnect to their bodies through somatic practices. She has a background working with children and families who have experienced trauma and working with individuals in the performing arts industry.

She specializes in helping Black women put down the superhero cape, release self criticism and judgment, tap into playfulness and joy, and reconnect with and prioritize their own needs and boundaries. As a dancer and former house manager, she also understands the pressures and challenges that people in the entertainment industry face, especially those of marginalized identities.

She also has been taking safety precautions in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and hopes to provide a validating and affirming space for those wanting to process the grief, frustrations, and hopes that come from navigating these circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insurances do you accept?

  • I accept the following: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, BlueChoice, United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna (need to double check if these are just for IL or also NY)
  • Self pay rate: $160-195

Are you seeing people in person or virtually?

  • At this time, I am only providing sessions virtually via a HIPAA-compliant video conference platform.

What is working with you like?

  • I employ a person centered, strengths based approach to working with clients. I believe in transparency and authenticity, and honoring your humanity and that you are the expert in your lived experience.  The therapeutic space will be a place where you can show up just as you are without any judgement. We will also make space for joy and play! Therapy doesn’t have to be a daunting experience.
  • Therapy is not an apolitical space and therefore I am not an apolitical therapist. Our lives, how we process and experience the world, and our interactions with others are heavily influenced by our identities, the levels of power and privilege that we have access to and the systems of oppression we navigate. As a therapist, it’s important for me to acknowledge all of these factors in our work together. My values include centering disability justice, Black liberation and indigenous sovereignty, humility, compassion and the power of community.

Do you use AI in your practice?

  • I do not use AI as part of my clinical practice or in my personal life due to the well documented various harmful impacts. (not sure if i need to elaborate further)
